BJP Accuses Congress of Seeking Regime Change via Propaganda

Bharatiya Janata Party Vice President Ram Madhav accused the Congress party of attempting to trigger a regime change by spreading false propaganda about electoral roll revisions.

Bharatiya Janata Party Vice President Ram Madhav accused the Congress party and leader Rahul Gandhi of spreading false propaganda regarding the Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Speaking at a press conference in Jammu on November 3, 2026, Madhav alleged that the opposition is attempting to trigger a regime change similar to those seen in Bangladesh or Nepal by fueling anarchy and distrust in democratic institutions.

Madhav defended the revision process as a constitutional measure to remove illegal infiltrators, migrants, and deceased voters from the rolls, while noting that 2.5 crore new voters were added over the last decade. He dismissed Congress demands to return to ballot papers, citing recent ballot-based results where the BJP performed strongly.

To counter the opposition narrative, the BJP announced plans to campaign across 5 lakh villages. Madhav characterized the Congress party as a threat to democracy, claiming their actions stem from an inability to defeat the BJP through democratic elections.
