White House Officials Suggest Nicki Minaj for Press Secretary

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung and advisor Alex Bruesewitz informally suggested rapper Nicki Minaj as the next press secretary following a recent vacancy.

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung and advisor Alex Bruesewitz have informally suggested rapper Nicki Minaj as a potential replacement for the vacant White House press secretary position. Cheung shared a video on X, recorded during a flight to Michigan, in which Minaj praised President Donald Trump's business acumen and foreign policy toughness, adding, "Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!"

Bruesewitz further engaged Minaj's fanbase, known as the Barbz, to gauge their reaction to the proposal. Minaj responded to the suggestion using emojis of an American flag and nervous laughter. The teasing of the appointment coincides with Minaj's appearance alongside Donald Trump at a political rally in Port Huron, Michigan, ahead of the November 2026 midterm elections.

The position became vacant following the resignation of Karoline Leavitt and the subsequent five-day tenure of Katie Zacharia. Zacharia was ousted after a rocky debut and allegations that she never passed the bar exam. While Cheung and Bruesewitz have publicly floated the idea, the administration has made no official announcement regarding a permanent appointment.
