Energy Costs Hurt Trump and Republicans in House Poll
A new poll shows a majority of voters in competitive House districts believe Donald Trump and Republicans are worsening energy prices for consumers.
A survey of 1,026 registered voters across 61 competitive House districts indicates that rising energy costs are damaging the political standing of Donald Trump and congressional Republicans. Conducted by Peter D. Hart Research Associates, Inc. for environmental and energy advocacy groups, the poll found that 60% of respondents believe the president is making energy prices worse for consumers, while 54% hold the same view of Republicans in Congress.
Household expenses are the primary driver for voting decisions among the surveyed group. Respondents cited grocery costs (68%), gasoline prices (46%), and utility bills (37%) as their top concerns.
On the congressional ballot, Democrats currently hold a narrow lead over Republicans, 49% to 46%. However, this margin remains within the survey's uncertainty range.
