U.S. Stock Futures Rally as Trump Rules Out Iran Attack
U.S. stock futures rose Friday led by AI stocks, while oil prices fell after President Donald Trump ruled out military action against Iran before midterms.
U.S. stock futures rallied on Friday, driven by a rebound in artificial intelligence stocks. This recovery followed a previous session selloff sparked by reports that OpenAI experienced lower-than-expected revenue. Nasdaq futures increased 0.8%, with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average also trending upward.
Donald Trump, President of the United States, influenced energy markets by stating the U.S. would not attack Iran before the midterm elections, citing productive talks with Tehran. This announcement contributed to a 1% drop in Brent crude prices to $103.20 a barrel. However, supply risks remain active due to Houthi militant attacks on Saudi Arabia and the threat of Hurricane Isaias in the Gulf of Mexico.
Other market movements included a decline in telecommunications stocks as Space Exploration Technologies Corp. accelerated the development of its own mobile network. Global performance remained mixed, with European stocks rising while Asian indexes, including the Nikkei 225 and Kospi, declined.
