Julia Letlow Wins Louisiana U.S. Senate Seat

Republican Julia Letlow defeated Democrat Jamie Davis to become the first female Republican U.S. senator from Louisiana.

Republican Julia Letlow won the U.S. Senate seat in Louisiana on November 3, 2026, defeating Democratic candidate Jamie Davis. Unofficial results from 3,209 of 3,722 precincts show Letlow securing 55% of the vote, or 639,577 votes, while Davis received 45%, or 532,778 votes. Letlow will replace Senator Bill Cassidy, who finished third in the May 16 Republican primary.

Letlow entered the race with the endorsement of President Donald Trump, who held a tele-rally for her the night before the election. Throughout the campaign, Letlow framed the contest as a fight against a "radical socialist agenda." Her victory comes despite scrutiny over a nondisclosure agreement with Meta and her failure to disclose stock purchases related to data center developments in her home district for over a year.

Jamie Davis, a row-crop farmer from Tensas Parish, ran a grassroots campaign without PAC money. He focused his final efforts on Northeast Louisiana, visiting Winnsboro, Monroe, West Monroe, and Union Parish to discuss healthcare and government corruption. Had he won, Davis would have been the first Black person elected to the U.S. Senate from Louisiana since Reconstruction.

The election saw record-breaking early voting for a nonpresidential cycle, with 520,942 ballots cast. This race marked the first time Louisiana utilized a closed party primary system for a Senate election.
