Allied People's Movement Defends Seyi Makinde's 2027 Presidential Bid

The Allied People's Movement (APM) defended the 2027 presidential candidacy of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde following public criticism from the Nigerian Presidency. The dispute began when Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, dismissed Makinde and the APM as inconsequential players in the upcoming contest.

In a statement released Wednesday, the APM asserted that Makinde has the popularity and performance record necessary to defeat President Bola Tinubu. The party characterized the Presidency's attacks as a sign of anxiety and an attempt to mask a lack of tangible achievements. The APM maintains that Makinde possesses the support of millions of young Nigerians and intends to prioritize policy and governance over personal exchanges.
