Donald Trump Comments on Nicki Minaj at Michigan Rally
President Donald Trump complimented rapper Nicki Minaj's appearance and made controversial claims about immigrants during a campaign rally in Port Huron, Michigan.
President Donald Trump complimented rapper Nicki Minaj's physical appearance during a campaign rally on October 25 at McMorran Place Arena in Port Huron, Michigan. During the event, Trump stated, "I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before — Nicki Minaj. That’s hard to miss," and asked her to stand up. Minaj responded by waving to the crowd and later took the stage to express her support for Trump and condemn gender-affirming care for minors, stating, "Leave the children alone."
At the same rally, Trump claimed that 98% of Somalis in the United States do not work because they steal. He also labeled Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed a "jihadist" linked to the 9/11 attacks. Following the event, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung reportedly suggested Minaj as a potential replacement for White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia.
Concurrent with his campaign stops, Trump filed a lawsuit in California to interfere with vote counting and ordered the United States Department of Justice to block the certification of the Senate race in Alaska if the Republican candidate loses to Democrat Mary Peltola. These actions, along with his comments about Minaj and Ohio Senate candidate Jon Husted, drew mockery from late-night hosts Jon Stewart, Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Kimmel.
