Modi Launches Rs 18,000 Crore Projects in Andhra Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth approximately Rs 18,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on August 1, 2026. The primary focus of the visit was the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram. Developed by GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited for Rs 5,640 crore, the greenfield facility is designed to handle 6 million passengers annually and is expected to begin commercial operations on August 17.

In Visakhapatnam, Modi launched the Rs 460 crore ASIP Semiconductor Project, the first such facility in the state approved under the India Semiconductor Mission. He also initiated several power transmission projects implemented by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited in the Kurnool and Ananthapuram renewable energy zones, totaling over Rs 10,000 crore, and dedicated National Highway projects worth Rs 1,880 crore to improve connectivity between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.

Modi further flagged off the expansion of the UDAN 2.0 regional air connectivity scheme, supported by a Rs 29,000 crore allocation. While in Karnataka, he inaugurated the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre—Viveka Smaraka in Mysuru. During the events, Modi praised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for integrating modern infrastructure with cultural preservation, highlighting a record-breaking Dhimsa dance performance by over 13,500 participants.
