Russian Drone Crashes in Moldova Amid Ukrainian Long-Range Strikes
A Russian drone exploded in Moldova during an attack on Ukraine's Odesa region, while Ukrainian forces launched long-range strikes against Moscow and Stavropol.
A Russian Shahed-type drone, identified by the Moldovan Ministry of Defense as a Geran-2 loitering munition, entered Moldovan airspace and exploded near the village of Copanca in the Căușeni district. The incident occurred around 1:03 a.m. on July 13, 2026, approximately 30 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, during a Russian nighttime attack on Ukraine's Odesa region. No injuries were reported from the crash. The Government of Moldova condemned the event as a serious and unacceptable violation of its sovereignty, stating that Russia's aggression against Ukraine poses direct risks to the security of Moldovan citizens.
Simultaneously, Ukrainian forces conducted a series of long-range drone strikes against the Moscow and Stavropol regions of Russia. In the Moscow region, a drone crash in Pionersky killed three people and wounded three others, while another strike in Solnechnogorsk injured two people. Russian air defenses intercepted 81 drones during the operation. In southern Russia, a drone ignited a fire at an industrial zone in Viazhniki, Stavropol Krai.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the intensifying strikes against Russian territory are designed to make President Vladimir Putin feel the war personally.
