Modi Announces AI Training for 10 Million Indian Youth
Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged AI skills training for 10 million youth and free competitive exam coaching during his 2026 Independence Day address.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a plan to provide artificial intelligence skills training to 10 million youth over the next year during his Independence Day address on August 15, 2026. Speaking from the Red Fort, Modi stated the initiative is part of the Viksit Bharat roadmap to ensure young Indians can lead the global AI domain.
To alleviate the financial pressure on middle-class and poor families, Modi also announced a network to provide free online coaching for competitive examinations. This move follows recent youth-led protests against examination irregularities that resulted in the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on July 25.
Other key initiatives include a nationwide talent hunt for children aged five to 15 to prepare for the 2036 Olympics and the expansion of social security coverage to 100 crore people. Modi further highlighted growth in the aviation, electric vehicle, and bioeconomy sectors.
