APC Chairman Welcomes Defectors and Defends President Tinubu
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda welcomed opposition defectors in Abuja while defending President Bola Tinubu's commitment to national unity and infrastructure.
All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda welcomed a group of defectors from opposition parties in Sokoto, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kano, and Plateau states during a gathering at the party's national secretariat in Abuja.
Yilwatda claimed that many politicians previously supported by President Bola Tinubu abandoned him during the 2023 presidential contest. He cited Tinubu's historical support for figures including Muhammadu Buhari, Nuhu Ribadu, and Atiku Abubakar as evidence of the president's commitment to national unity.
The chairman defended the current administration's infrastructure record in Northern Nigeria, specifically highlighting road and rail initiatives. He dismissed opposition promises of fuel discounts as financially unfeasible, questioning how such promises could be kept when the federal government owns only a portion of oil production tied to joint ventures.
Additionally, Yilwatda criticized former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of selling public assets below cost during previous privatization efforts.
