Indian Leaders Launch Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign Across States

Vice President C P Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led national flag campaigns in Andaman and Nicobar and Uttar Pradesh ahead of Independence Day.

Indian government leaders launched the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign across multiple regions to promote patriotism ahead of Independence Day. On August 9, C P Radhakrishnan inaugurated the initiative in Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The launch coincided with August Kranti Diwas, commemorating the 1942 Quit India Movement. Radhakrishnan hoisted the National Flag at Flag Point, where Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had previously proclaimed the islands free from British rule, and paid tribute to freedom fighters who suffered in the Cellular Jail.

During a subsequent address at the DBRAIT Auditorium, Radhakrishnan described the campaign, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as a nationwide movement for unity. He also noted that the Great Nicobar Island Development Project would improve India's maritime capabilities and economic opportunities.

On August 10, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expanded the campaign's reach by leading a 'Tiranga Yatra' in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Adityanath urged citizens to display the national flag with pride, citing 2022 amendments to the Flag Code that expanded hoisting rights. He announced a state target to hoist the tricolour at five crore homes across government and private institutions. Adityanath also praised the current government for renaming the Kakori train dacoity as the 'Kakori Train Action' to better honor the revolutionaries involved.
