Russia and Ukraine Exchange Massive Missile and Drone Strikes
Russia and Ukraine launched coordinated aerial assaults targeting military production sites, energy infrastructure, and civilian centers across both nations between July 7 and July 8.
The Military of Russia and Ukrainian forces engaged in a series of escalating aerial attacks between July 7 and July 8, 2026. The conflict intensified on Tuesday when Russian forces struck a production facility in the Odesa region using a ballistic missile with a cluster warhead, wounding at least nine people. This was followed by a wide-scale Russian offensive on Wednesday, featuring MLRS, guided bombs, and UAVs targeting Kharkiv and 12 other settlements, leaving at least two dead and 35 injured.
In response, Ukrainian forces executed a massive overnight drone raid on July 8, targeting 18 Russian regions. These attacks damaged two tankers in Taganrog Bay, struck industrial facilities in Nizhnekamsk and the Omsk Oil Refinery, and hit the Krasnodarskaya compressor station used by Gazprom to supply gas to Türkiye. One person was killed in the Saratov region and another in Belgorod.
Russia retaliated with precision ground-based strikes in Kyiv, specifically targeting Samsung Ukraine production sites. Moscow claimed these facilities manufactured components for FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles and long-range UAVs, though Ukrainian authorities reported fires at warehouses and a tram garage instead. Amidst the violence, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov suggested the war could end if Ukrainian troops withdrew from Donbass.
