U.S. Forces Attack Iranian Fishing Boats Near Qeshm Island
United States forces attacked two Iranian fishing boats near Qeshm Island, injuring two people and leaving two others missing amid escalating regional conflict.
United States forces attacked two fishing boats near the coast of Qeshm Island in Iran's southern Hormozgan Province on October 31. Ahmad Nafisi, the Deputy Governor of Hormozgan Province, reported the incident occurred around 11:00 local time approximately 18 miles from Mesen village. Two of the four people on board were hospitalized with injuries, while two others remain missing as rescue operations continue.
The attack occurs during a period of severe escalation between the two nations. Tensions spiked on July 8 after U.S. forces launched strikes on Iranian territory following an attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump subsequently terminated the ceasefire with Iran.
In response to the U.S. actions, Tehran launched strikes against U.S. facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. This ongoing conflict has resulted in the total halt of maritime trade through the Strait of Hormuz.
