Russia Threatens British Facilities in Ukraine Over Weapon Supplies

President Vladimir Putin warned that British facilities in Ukraine will be considered legitimate targets if they are used to support long-range strikes against Russian territory. This escalation followed a formal protest by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, which summoned the UK's deputy head of mission in Moscow to object to the supply of drones and weapons systems to Ukrainian forces.

Russian officials stated that the country reserves the right to take retaliatory measures as part of its self-defence. The threats come as the United Kingdom increases its military aid, pledging over 120,000 drones for the year. Additionally, the UK government recently authorized the defense firm MBDA to share classified component information for Storm Shadow missiles to facilitate local manufacturing within Ukraine.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office dismissed the Russian warnings as an attempt to deflect attention from the invasion of Ukraine and discredit the UK internationally. British officials affirmed their commitment to providing the equipment necessary for Ukraine to defend itself and secure a lasting peace.
