Jairam Ramesh Accuses Narendra Modi of Anti-Corruption Hoax

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of overseeing a regime of cover-ups and failing anti-corruption pledges across multiple state and national scandals.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led government on July 13, 2026, alleging the administration failed its anti-corruption commitments. Ramesh characterized Modi's 2014 pledge to neither take nor allow bribes as a "hoax," claiming the Prime Minister instead delivered "Minimum Governance, Maximum Cover-Ups."

These allegations span several high-profile issues, including the Rafale deal, the PM CARES Fund, electoral bonds, and the 2016 demonetization. Ramesh further highlighted current controversies involving alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and land scams involving Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. He also cited CBI inquiries into contracts linked to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

Beyond financial scandals, Ramesh criticized the government's E20 fuel policy and called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following irregularities in the NEET-UG examinations. The Bharatiya Janata Party rejected the land scam allegations, and the government denied the claims regarding the E20 policy.
