Israeli Forces Kill Two Youths in West Bank Raid

Israeli military forces and settlers killed two Palestinian teenagers, aged 16 and 19, during a raid on the village of al-Mughayyir near Ramallah on Wednesday. Local sources and village council head Amin Abu Alia report that settlers stole sheep and attacked homes while Israeli snipers took positions on rooftops, firing on residents who attempted to confront the settlers. The Israeli Defense Forces stated that troops entered the village to provide security for police and a civilian retrieving livestock, and that they fired upon key instigators of a violent disturbance involving stone-throwing.

This incident occurs amid a broader surge in settler violence and settlement expansion under the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has documented over 1,330 settler attacks and the displacement of more than 2,300 Palestinians in 2026.

Separately, in Nazareth, two unidentified Palestinian citizens of Israel in their 30s were shot and killed inside a vehicle on Wednesday evening. This brings the total number of Palestinian citizens of Israel killed since the start of 2026 to 156. Community members have organized protests accusing the Israeli government of failing to protect their communities from rising violent crime, with some critics linking the surge to the 2023 appointment of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
