Nigeria Launches C.L.I.C.K.D. Program to Provide Laptops via Credit

The Nigerian government launched the C.L.I.C.K.D. program in Abuja to provide affordable consumer credit for locally assembled laptops to digital talent fellows.

The Nigerian government launched the Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D) programme on July 21, 2026, at the Afreximbank African Trade Centre in Abuja. Implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) and the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, the initiative provides structured consumer credit for laptops and internet-enabled devices to deepen digital inclusion.

The scheme integrates with the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, specifically targeting fellows using the Learn2Earn platform. To support indigenous manufacturing, the first phase prioritizes locally assembled laptops produced by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and Imose Technologies. Fidelity Bank serves as the credit administration partner. During the rollout, 77 beneficiaries in Abuja received devices, with plans to distribute a total of 1,000 laptops to qualified fellows nationwide in phases.

Minister Bosun Tijani stated the initiative is a critical component of President Bola Tinubu's vision to grow Nigeria into a $1 trillion economy by empowering citizens to acquire productive assets. Uzoma Nwagba noted that the program aims to remove upfront cost barriers, transforming digital devices from a barrier into an opportunity for those seeking to learn, work, and earn.
