Ademola Adeleke Urges Tinubu to Protect Osun Election Results

Governor Ademola Adeleke appealed to President Bola Tinubu to prevent desperate politicians from disrupting or hijacking collation centres during the results process for the August 15 governorship election. In a social media post, Adeleke urged the president to issue a clear warning to security agencies to safeguard the integrity of the process and ensure the final outcome reflects the genuine choice of the electorate.

Prior to the vote, the Imole Campaign Council, which supports Adeleke, endorsed a directive from President Tinubu ordering the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to maintain neutrality and professionalism. While the council welcomed the call for a transparent election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, it expressed concern over a perceived lack of police neutrality in recent months.

Following the polls, Adeleke specifically called on the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to protect the collation process. He noted that reports of attempts to disrupt centres were deeply concerning given the large number of security personnel deployed to the state.
