Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike declared himself the coordinator for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election campaign in the FCT and Rivers State. Speaking at a Rainbow Coalition stakeholders' meeting in Abuja on Monday, Wike unveiled a cross-party strategy involving the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
During the meeting, PDP National Assembly candidates openly declared support for their APC counterparts. Wike described himself as the "commander of field operations" for the FCT election and urged participants to prioritize the shared objective of securing a second term for Tinubu over party affiliations. He cited the 2024 Edo State governorship election as a successful precedent for such political coalitions.
Wike defended Tinubu's infrastructure projects in the FCT and economic reforms as the primary tools for mobilizing support. He also endorsed the establishment of state police to improve national security. While the alliance focuses on the presidency, Wike emphasized that the collaboration between the APC and PDP is essential for the campaign's success in these key regions.
