Trump and Bessent Condemn Media Coverage of Iran War

President Donald Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent condemned U.S. media coverage of the six-month war with Iran, accusing journalists of aiding the Iranian regime. On Thursday, Trump used Truth Social to label reporters "treasonous SCUM" after news outlets reported that the United States faces shortages of missiles and interceptors.

Trump denied these reports, asserting that the military possesses "virtually unlimited amounts of Mid to High Grade Ammunition" and is stockpiling munitions at unprecedented levels. He noted that the U.S. is not currently selling these munitions to other nations.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent echoed these attacks during a G20 meeting in Asheville. Bessent claimed that the media acts as one of the "best allies" for Iran by publishing "lies" from the Iranian regime. This rhetoric aligns with similar comments from Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, continuing a pattern of the administration framing critical military reporting as treasonous.
