Chirag Paswan Offers Dialogue to Anti-Reservation Protesters
Union Minister Chirag Paswan stated the government will negotiate with anti-reservation protesters if they present their demands systematically.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan announced on Saturday that the government is open to dialogue with the Reservation Hatao Andolan protesters at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Paswan conditioned this engagement on the protesters presenting their demands in a systematic manner. The group is calling for a shift from caste-based quotas to economic criteria for government support, specifically advocating for a one family, one reservation policy.
Speaking from Patna, Paswan noted that the NDA government has already addressed economic needs by implementing a 10 percent reservation for Economically Weaker Sections. He warned that misunderstandings regarding reservation policies could trigger widespread public anger.
Paswan also used the briefing to criticize the Indian National Congress, claiming a dharna led by Rahul Gandhi was an attempt to divert attention from a controversy involving the disrespect of Vande Mataram. Additionally, he addressed rising sugar prices as a temporary result of low production and commented on Tejashwi Yadav's support for student protests in Bihar, describing the RJD leader's actions as consistent with his role as Leader of the Opposition.
