Thomas Massie Launches Petition to Force Epstein Files Vote

Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky read a list of more than a dozen alleged coconspirators of Jeffrey Epstein on the House floor Monday, including billionaire Les Wexner, David Copperfield, and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Massie accused the United States Department of Justice of withholding over three million files despite the passage of the original Epstein Files Transparency Act a year ago.

To address these gaps, Massie launched a discharge petition to force a House vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act II. The proposed legislation would grant state attorneys general access to Epstein-related records to prosecute perpetrators under state law and make it easier for survivors to obtain their own files. Massie and Representative Teresa Leger Fernandez are seeking 218 signatures to bypass House leadership and trigger the vote.

Massie alleged that the administration of President Donald Trump is covering up for Epstein's associates, a claim that follows a public falling out between the congressman and the president over tax cuts, the Iran war, and the Epstein scandal. Massie expressed concern that Speaker of the House Mike Johnson might attempt to avoid the vote by recessing the House until after the midterm elections.
