Interior Minister Accuses Politicians of Establishment Reliance

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi claims political leaders opposing Governor's Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are motivated by their failure to secure roles in the new administration.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi accused unnamed political leaders of opposing the current administration in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa because they were denied roles in the Governor's Rule setup or the office of governor. Speaking in Lahore, Naqvi claimed these politicians relied on the establishment for decades to sustain their careers, alleging that the establishment even provided air tickets for some parties.

This friction follows the imposition of emergency and Governor's Rule by President Asif Ali Zardari, acting on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The move sidelined the PTI-led provincial government, placing provincial functions under Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and an 11-member advisory council. Naqvi further questioned why these leaders remained silent for years while former FATA districts lacked resources, only to raise concerns after the administrative shift.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif supported these claims, stating that those criticizing the change are doing so because they were excluded from the new setup. The federal government maintains that the province requires stability and collective effort rather than political confrontation.
