Virginia Opens Early Voting Amid Midterm Election Tensions

In-person early voting for the November 3 midterm elections began on September 18 in Virginia, with absentee in-person voting also available in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Idaho. Voters in Virginia are deciding on all 11 U.S. House seats and a U.S. Senate race between Democratic incumbent Mark Warner and Republican challenger Bert Mizusawa. Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones has since demanded the Department of Homeland Security confirm if federal employees illegally accessed voter information to hunt for noncitizens.

While the Trump administration promotes a new Medicaid prescription drug pricing initiative to lower costs, some Republicans have diverged in messaging. Representative Maria Elvira Salazar criticized the administration's immigration enforcement efforts in campaign advertisements, claiming some efforts have gone too far.
