Nyesom Wike and Ayodele Fayose Predict Tinubu 2027 Victory

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike declared that the 2027 presidential election will be an easy contest for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speaking in Abuja, Wike characterized Nigeria's opposition parties as crippled and depleted, arguing that they lack the unity and long-term planning required to remove a sitting government. He specifically criticized the internal divisions and poor performance of candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

Wike contrasted the current political climate with the stressful and uncertain 2023 general election. He defended the Tinubu administration against claims of federal interference in democratic processes, citing the recent Osun governorship election victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke as evidence that the government allows polls to run naturally. He urged citizens to judge leadership by concrete actions taken to solve economic problems rather than emotional sentiments.

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose echoed these sentiments, stating that Peter Obi has no hope of winning in 2027 due to opposition fragmentation. Fayose argued that Obi's move from the African Democratic Congress to the Nigeria Democratic Congress weakened the challenge against the ruling All Progressives Congress. He asserted that it is now too late for opposition parties to reunite because the Independent National Electoral Commission has already accredited candidates. Fayose predicted President Tinubu could win with nearly 65 percent of the vote, driven by strong support in the South-West.
