Russia Strikes US-Owned Drone Factory as Ukraine Hits Logistics

The Military of Russia destroyed a drone production facility in Kyiv on Friday using a ballistic missile and drone strike. This marks the first time Moscow has targeted a facility owned by a United States corporation during the conflict. The site was owned by Terminal Autonomy, a Delaware-registered firm producing AI-guided loitering munitions, such as the AQ-400 Scythe and AQ-100 Bayonet, designed to resist Russian jamming. The Russian Ministry of Defence confirmed the attack, noting the presence of specialists from a Ukrainian-American company; no fatalities were reported.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian drones launched a series of strikes against Russian industrial and logistics sites on July 31. Targets included the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery and a Wildberries logistics hub in Volgograd, as well as complexes in Zelenodolsk and Nizhnekamsk. These attacks are part of a campaign beginning July 18 that has hit nearly a dozen Wildberries sites, including locations in Penza and Sarapul.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that these warehouses are targeted because they serve as hubs for distributing drone components and military equipment. The strikes have eliminated approximately 10% of Wildberries' storage capacity. The Russian government is currently monitoring the resulting economic disruption, which has affected tens of thousands of small businesses utilizing the retail platform.
