BJP Condemns Opposition Use of National Flag in Protests

BJP President Nitin Nabin accused Rahul Gandhi and the Opposition of using the Indian national flag to incite anarchy during voter roll protests in Delhi.

Bharatiya Janata Party President Nitin Nabin condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Opposition for using the Indian national flag during protests in Delhi. Speaking from Patna, Nabin asserted that the Tricolour "can never, ever be a symbol of anarchy" and accused the Opposition of attempting to destabilize the country and incite disorder.

The protests, led by the Indian National Congress and the Cockroach Janta Party, target the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls. Demonstrators allege irregularities by the Election Commission and are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The BJP has characterized the collaboration between the two parties as a politically motivated nexus designed to undermine constitutional institutions.

Rahul Gandhi defended the demonstrators, stating that peacefully waving the national flag is not a crime. He specifically condemned the detention of student leader Neha Bora and Cockroach Janta Party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. Simultaneously, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma warned that the state would take firm action against any attempts to blockade law enforcement or cause disorder during the protests.
