Gaza Death Toll Hits 74,016 as Israeli Strikes Continue

The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 74,016, with 175,068 wounded since the conflict began on October 7, 2023. According to the Ministry of Health of Gaza, 1,145 Palestinians and seven Israeli soldiers have been killed since a U.S.-brokered ceasefire took effect in October 2025. Despite the agreement, Israeli Security Forces continue to conduct drone strikes, artillery shelling, and naval attacks across the enclave, including recent strikes on displaced persons' tents in Gaza City and shelling in Khan Younis and Rafah.

The Government Media Office of Gaza reported that the Israeli military has killed 262 Palestinian journalists and injured 433 others since 2023. The office described the situation as "the worst and most horrific campaign of targeting, assassination and systematic destruction known in modern history," noting media sector losses exceeding $800 million.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israeli forces will not withdraw from the territory until Hamas disarms. Meanwhile, in Israel, opposition leaders including Gadi Eisenkot, Naftali Bennett, and Yair Lapid are coordinating efforts to defeat Netanyahu's coalition in next month's elections, which are viewed as a referendum on the security failures of the initial October 7 attacks.
