Singapore High Commissioner Labels India Key Pillar of Regional Prosperity

Simon Wong declares India essential to Asia's future stability and details the strategic growth of the Singapore-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Simon Wong, Singapore's High Commissioner to India, identified India as a critical pillar of regional prosperity and stability. He stated that the bilateral relationship has reached its highest possible level through a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was solidified following reciprocal visits by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2024 and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in September 2025.

Singapore remains India's largest single-country investor, contributing approximately $192 billion between 2000 and 2025. Current strategic priorities involve diversifying investment into northern India, specifically Uttar Pradesh and the eastern corridor. This expansion follows invitations from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to invest in the BIDA area and Jhansi.

Cooperation is currently focused on aviation Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul services, food processing, and skill development. To ensure measurable outcomes, the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable manages joint efforts in space exploration, green shipping, and digital asset innovation.
