Machinists Union Launches Workers v Billionaires Midterm Campaign

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers launched a "workers v billionaires" political campaign tour across eight U.S. battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Texas, ahead of the midterm elections. The union is urging its nearly 700,000 members to support pro-worker candidates, specifically Democrats.

Union leadership attributes rising inflation, soaring health insurance costs, and increased gas prices to the administration of Donald Trump and his conflict with Iran. The IAM claims that Trump failed to deliver on 2024 campaign promises to lower prices and argues that his tariffs have resulted in industry job losses.

The campaign focuses on the cost of living and the exclusion of transportation workers from the no-tax-on-overtime deduction provided by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Union president Brian Bryant is leading the strategic engagement, framing the current economy as one that favors billionaires over working people.
