Angela Paxton Urges Republicans to Prioritize Party Over Candidates

Texas State Senator Angela Paxton urged members of the Texas Federation of Republican Women to prioritize party control of legislative seats over personal dissatisfaction with specific candidates. Speaking at a meeting in Round Rock titled "The Elephant in the Room," she argued that maintaining Republican control of seats is more important than individual grievances, stating, "It’s not the people — it’s the seat."

While she did not explicitly name her estranged husband, Attorney General Ken Paxton, she acknowledged the "moral dilemma" facing some voters. Angela Paxton filed for divorce from Ken Paxton in 2025 on biblical grounds, citing adultery.

Ken Paxton is currently the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate after defeating John Cornyn in the primary. He is now engaged in a close race against Democratic state Representative James Talarico. The Texas Federation of Republican Women, which consists of over 10,000 members, manages significant get-out-the-vote operations for the party.
