Afenifere Condemns Tinubu's Three-Year Record as 'Summum Malum'

Afenifere issued a scathing report accusing President Tinubu's administration of worsening security, deepening poverty, and drifting toward one-man rule.

Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and political organization, released a report titled "Tinubu's Third Year Report: Summum Malum or Summum Bonum" condemning President Bola Tinubu's three years in office as a period of deteriorating security and economic hardship. The group alleged that the administration has worsened Nigeria's conditions, citing the beheadings of teachers, kidnappings of children, and a poverty rate that has climbed to 63%.

Afenifere specifically criticized the government's neoliberal economic policies and its failure to implement state and community policing, pointing to recent violence in Kwara and Oyo States as evidence of systemic security failures. The organization also accused the administration of systemic corruption, including the alleged diversion of N800 billion in campaign finance from federal allocations.

The group warned that the intimidation of opposition parties, labor unions, and student groups signals a drift toward fascism and one-man rule. Afenifere implored the Tinubu administration to change course by allowing credible opposition parties and voices to exist, ensuring free and fair elections, and preventing what it described as the total derailment of Nigeria's democracy. The report was signed by Afenifere leader Oba Oladipo Olaitan and National Publicity Secretary Prince Justice Faloye.
