Gavin Newsom Condemns Democratic Climate Hushing in New York

California Governor Gavin Newsom criticized Democratic politicians for practicing climate hushing during the UN General Assembly and New York Climate Week. He argued that the party fails to communicate the direct connection between climate change and kitchen table economic issues, such as the rising cost of food, stating that the cost of inaction is incalculable.

Newsom highlighted California's progress in energy transition, noting the state ran on 100% clean electricity nine out of ten days in 2026. Turning to the national political landscape, he predicted that the November midterm elections would signal the end of Donald Trump's presidency as it is currently known.

Regarding the 2028 presidential race, Newsom described Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a generational talent. He stated he would not rule out running for president if Ocasio-Cortez were the nominee, though he maintained he would not run against Kamala Harris.
