Nvidia Invests Billions in European AI and UK Startups
Nvidia Corporation CEO Jensen Huang announced billions in European AI investments and funded five UK startups while urging the region to build its own technology stack.
CEO Jensen Huang announced that Nvidia Corporation has invested $8 billion in the European AI ecosystem over the past year, with several billion more planned. During a tour of Europe preceding the GTC event in Berlin, Huang urged the region to develop its entire AI technology stack, from data centers to applications, to remain competitive. He specifically criticized the United Kingdom and Germany for falling behind in technology and noted that British entrepreneurs face too many obstacles to success.
In West London, Huang announced investments in five UK startups: biotechs Prima Mente and Boltz, project delivery platform Foresight, algorithm discovery startup Hiverge, and quantum company Riverlane. These are part of a $1.16 billion funding pool for UK companies, following similar investments in French startups. Other major investments include stakes in Nscale and Nebius.
In Stockholm, the visit coincided with the launch of Sferical One, a Swedish supercomputer powered by Nvidia chips designed to keep sensitive national data within Sweden. Additionally, Volvo Cars expanded its partnership with Nvidia Corporation to enhance safety technology for future self-driving vehicles. Huang met with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and has a scheduled meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
