Iran Warns of Devastating Weapons Amid US Tension
Iran warns of deploying more destructive weaponry and modernizing its defense industry following the expiration of a peace memorandum with the United States.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and other Iranian military leaders have warned that any future conflict will involve more precise and destructive weaponry than seen in previous wars. Spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi stated that Iran has expanded its missile warhead generations, range, and precision following conflicts with the United States and Israel in June 2025 and February 2026.
These warnings coincide with a broader effort by the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics to modernize the national defense industry. Ahead of National Defense Industry Day on August 22, the ministry announced a restructuring to integrate smart technologies and university research, transforming battlefield experience from recent wars into new defense technology.
Major General Ali Abdollahi, Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces, characterized these developments as a "deterrent defense industrial revolution" across ground, naval, air, space, and cyber domains. He warned that any miscalculations by adversaries would be met with a "forceful, regret-inducing and devastating" response.
Diplomatic tensions have spiked following the August 17 expiration of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which Iran claims the United States breached. While President Donald Trump asserted that a backchannel for peace talks exists between Washington and the IRGC, Mohebbi dismissed the claim as a "delusion," and foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei denied reports of secret meetings.
