Flávio Bolsonaro Vows to Vote Against 6x1 Work Week

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro announced he will vote to end Brazil's 6x1 work week following a direct challenge from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro announced on Tuesday, October 13, that he will vote to end Brazil's 6x1 work week, which requires employees to work six days before receiving one day off. This decision marks a reversal for the conservative senator, who previously opposed the measure as opportunistic and instead advocated for flexible hours negotiated between employers and workers.

The shift in position follows a direct challenge from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and occurs 12 days before the presidential runoff election scheduled for October 25. The proposed constitutional amendment would significantly alter labor costs and scheduling for factory, retail, and service employees, affecting both domestic and international firms operating in Brazil.

The Senate of Brazil, led by President Davi Alcolumbre, is expected to hold the first round of voting on the amendment on Wednesday, October 14. To pass, the reform requires the support of at least 49 of the 81 senators across two separate voting rounds.
