President Donald Trump endorsed My Pillow founder Mike Lindell for governor of Minnesota on Tuesday, hours before primary polls closed. Writing on Truth Social, Trump urged voters to support Lindell, stating he has worked harder than anyone in the fight for free and fair elections.
Lindell stepped down as CEO of My Pillow last week to focus on his campaign. He is competing in a crowded Republican field that includes Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth and Army veteran Kendall Qualls. Current polling shows Lindell leading Demuth with 34 percent support compared to 28 percent.
The race to succeed outgoing Governor Tim Walz follows Walz's withdrawal from the race in January after a statewide fraud scandal involving vacant daycare centers. The general election is expected to be a matchup between the Republican nominee and Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar.
