Azerbaijan Hosts High-Level Diplomatic Meetings During CICA Summit
Azerbaijan conducted strategic bilateral meetings with Chinese and Belarusian officials in Baku to discuss trade, regional security, and interparliamentary cooperation during the 7th CICA Summit.
Azerbaijan hosted a series of high-level diplomatic engagements on October 15 in conjunction with the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA). Under Azerbaijan's chairmanship, the summit served as a backdrop for strengthening strategic partnerships with key international allies.
Jeyhun Bayramov, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Baku to expand cooperation in energy, transport, logistics, trade, and investment. The two officials emphasized the importance of the Middle Corridor for connectivity between Asia and Europe and discussed the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. They reaffirmed their commitment to mutual support within the United Nations and CICA, building upon a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2025.
Simultaneously, Azerbaijan strengthened legislative ties through a meeting between Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis, and Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Belarusian National Assembly. The leaders focused on the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Belarus, highlighting successful cooperation within the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. The discussion underscored the role of reciprocal high-level visits and the friendship between the two nations' heads of state in maintaining bilateral relations.
