Trump Installs Cameras at Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

President Donald Trump announced the installation of anti-vandalism cameras at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool following a costly and flawed resurfacing project.

Donald Trump announced Friday that the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is 85 percent full and will now be monitored by anti-vandalism cameras. The pool was recently resurfaced in American flag blue to prepare for the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The project faced significant cost and quality overruns. While Trump initially estimated the work would cost $2 million and take two weeks, the final cost reached approximately $16 million. The installation suffered from peeling lining and algae blooms.

Trump attributed the damage to vandals and claimed grass near the pool was scarred by poison. However, federal prosecutors and a judge dismissed cases against suspected vandals, including former Olympian David Hearn. The Office of the Attorney for the District of Columbia cited United States Department of the Interior records showing the damage resulted from a flawed installation and pressure to meet a July 4 deadline.
