US Pacific Command Chief Meets India's Jaishankar in New Delhi

India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of the United States Pacific Command, in New Delhi on Sunday to advance maritime cooperation and the security partnership in the Indo-Pacific. Admiral Paparo is conducting a six-day official visit to strengthen the Major Defense Partnership, focusing on regional strategic stability, defense energy resilience, digital transformation, and the use of emerging technologies.
The U.S. Embassy in India stated that the visit reaffirms United States interests in the Indian Ocean region and builds a partnership equipped to meet future challenges. The meeting was attended by U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor.
These discussions follow a September 28 meeting in New Delhi between Indian Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth and Lieutenant General Joel B. Vowell, Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific. Those leaders focused on enhancing military interoperability through joint training and exercises, specifically citing the successful outcome of Exercise Yudh Abhyas as validation of joint operational synergy between the two forces.
