Erdogan and Mohammed bin Salman Discuss Red Sea Security

Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on August 3, 2026, to address bilateral relations and regional security. During the conversation, Erdogan condemned attacks conducted by the Iran-backed Houthi militia against shipping in the Red Sea.
Erdogan expressed support for Saudi Arabia and welcomed the establishment of a Saudi-led multinational maritime defense coalition designed to protect international shipping lanes. The leaders also reviewed the Gaza Peace Plan, where Erdogan stated that Israel's full compliance with the roadmap for the plan's second phase is essential for its success.
