F-16s Intercept Plane Over Trump Rally in South Carolina
F-16 fighter jets intercepted a general aviation plane that entered restricted airspace during a Donald Trump campaign rally at Clemson University.
F-16 fighter jets intercepted a general aviation plane on Wednesday after it entered restricted airspace over Clemson, South Carolina. The aircraft breached a temporary flight restriction established while Donald Trump held a campaign rally at Clemson University in support of Republican Senate candidate Darline Graham.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command monitored the aircraft until it landed safely at a nearby airfield. The Federal Aviation Administration, which issues these restrictions for high-profile visits via Notices to Airmen, warned that pilots violating such orders may face federal enforcement action.
This incident follows a series of similar airspace violations during recent presidential appearances. Previous breaches occurred during visits to Cincinnati, Chicago, and Geneva, Ohio.
