Nigerian Leaders Mobilize Multi-Regional Support for Tinubu 2027 Bid
Abubakar Kabir Bichi and Nyesom Wike are coordinating regional and multi-party efforts to secure President Bola Tinubu's re-election in the 2027 general elections.
Political leaders in Northern and Central Nigeria are launching coordinated efforts to secure the 2027 re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In Kano State, Abubakar Kabir Bichi, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, convened strategic meetings in Bichi town with the Kano State House of Assembly and 40 party candidates. Bichi aims to harmonize All Progressives Congress strategies to support both the president and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, pledging that stakeholders in the Kano North Senatorial District will deliver at least one million votes for Tinubu.
Bichi argued that Northern Nigeria owes the president a debt of gratitude for approving massive infrastructure projects and for his role in the 2015 victory of Muhammadu Buhari. He dismissed claims that presidential policies target the North as politically motivated.
Simultaneously, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is organizing a Rainbow Coalition in Abuja to build grassroots support across party lines. During the commissioning of the Gwagwalada Civil Centre, Wike urged members of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party to prioritize national unity over partisan differences. Wike criticized opposing politicians as greedy and selfish, asserting they lack the capacity to unite their own communities. In addition to the presidential bid, Wike canvassed support for Senator Philip Aduda, emphasizing the importance of representatives who maintain contact with their constituents.
