ExxonMobil and Chevron Cancel UAE Trips Amid Iran Tensions
ExxonMobil and Chevron canceled executive travel to the ADIPEC oil conference in the United Arab Emirates following warnings of potential U.S. military operations against Iran.
Senior executives from ExxonMobil Inc. and Chevron canceled planned trips to the ADIPEC oil conference in the United Arab Emirates due to security concerns. ExxonMobil Chief Executive Darren Woods and Chevron upstream president Clay Neff were among the leaders who withdrew from the event scheduled for next week.
The cancellations follow heightened regional tensions and statements from President Donald Trump that the United States may carry out another military operation against Iran. This security climate has prompted the United States Department of State to order some diplomats to leave Saudi Arabia and plan the withdrawal of family members from regional missions following frequent Houthi attacks.
While CEOs from BP and Equinor remain on the ADIPEC schedule, the trend of executive withdrawals has appeared elsewhere. Several senior leaders were removed from the program of the WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh earlier this month. The United Arab Emirates has not experienced Iranian attacks since May, but the broader risk of retaliatory strikes continues to influence corporate travel decisions in the region.
