Democrats Target Trump Subordinates for Second-Term Accountability

The Democratic Party is seeking to hold President Donald Trump's advisors and federal agents accountable for actions taken during his second term.

The Democratic Party is coordinating efforts across Congress and state governments to hold officials and supporters of President Donald Trump accountable for actions during his second term. While acknowledging that the Supreme Court granted the president broad immunity, Democrats are targeting subordinates and advisors, including Stephen Miller, Elon Musk, and agents from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In Illinois, Governor JB Pritzker established the Illinois Accountability Commission to document misconduct by federal agents during Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago. Simultaneously, Representative Eric Swalwell issued a warning to Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr to preserve records for upcoming hearings.

These accountability measures emerge during a five-week government shutdown. Democratic leaders express concern over the normalization of authoritarian behavior and the potential loss of food benefits for 40 million people.
