Trump Orders Investigation Into Ric Grenell Theft Allegations

President Donald Trump directed White House Counsel to investigate special envoy Ric Grenell following accusations of a multi-million dollar pay-for-play scheme.

Donald Trump directed White House Counsel Will Scharf to investigate allegations that special presidential envoy Ric Grenell stole millions of dollars through a pay-for-play scheme. The investigation follows accusations from Turkish businessman Turhan Mildon and his spouse, former U.S. Attorney Alina Habba.

Mildon alleges that in May 2025, Grenell promised him VIP access to the president and the administration in exchange for funds transferred to the Kennedy Center. Mildon claims he wired 17.6 million dollars to Texas Armament & Technology, with nearly 6 million dollars intended for the Kennedy Center and the rest for a software deal in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

After discovering the Kennedy Center never received the money, Habba confronted Grenell at the White House and accused him of theft. Grenell has denied the allegations, characterizing them as "lies" and denying that he sent the text messages cited in the claims.
