Narendra Modi Inaugurates Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport
Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram and praised the state's cultural heritage and infrastructure development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram, Vizianagaram district, on August 1, 2026. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister received a handcrafted Bobbili Ekanda Veena and praised the local artisans of Andhra Pradesh for preserving the region's musical legacy.
The inauguration featured a large-scale cultural display, including a performance by more than 13,000 students performing the tribal Dhimsa dance. Tribal women also attempted a world record for the same dance during the festivities.
Modi commended Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his vision in balancing modern infrastructural growth with the preservation of cultural heritage.
