Trump Announces Submarine Component Repair Center in Cleveland
President Donald Trump announced the establishment of a 46,000-square-foot submarine component repair center in Cleveland to boost economic activity in Ohio.
Donald Trump announced on October 12 during a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, that the Pentagon will establish a new US Submarine Component Repair Centre in Cleveland. The 46,000-square-foot facility will manufacture, repair, and maintain key parts for nearly all new and existing submarines.
The project follows an August memorandum directing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to develop a plan for the center. The announcement occurs three weeks before the November 3 midterm elections, as the president seeks to support Republican candidates in Ohio, a key battleground state.
The move is part of a broader effort to address voter dissatisfaction regarding inflation, high mortgage rates, and rising petrol prices, which have increased following wars in Ukraine and Iran.
