Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso Urges Peter Obi to Drop 2027 Bid

Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso called on Peter Obi to abandon his presidential ambitions and support President Bola Tinubu to maintain southern political tenure.

Professor Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, Director-General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, urged Peter Obi to abandon his 2027 presidential ambitions and support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu. Speaking at an interactive session in Abuja on Monday, Ike-Muonso argued that the South should complete a full eight-year presidential tenure before power rotates back to the North, following an informal zoning arrangement used since 1999.

Ike-Muonso encouraged Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate, to join the All Progressives Congress to contribute to national policy discussions on healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development. He linked this political stability to the success of the Tinubu administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.

During the session, Ike-Muonso also detailed the Raw Materials Research and Development Council's efforts to drive industrialization. He highlighted a proposal for a legislative framework that would require at least 30 percent value addition to raw materials before export to reduce Nigeria's reliance on exporting unprocessed commodities.
